Getting Pre-Qualified

It is unwise to start shopping for a home until you have been pre-qualified.

Nobody wants to have to step down $50,000 in what they are looking at. Getting your hopes up to spend $350,000 when you know you can afford the note, only to find out that the lender can only get you to $290,000 will leave a pretty sour taste in your mouth.

Also, you really are not in a position to make an offer until a lender has screened your income, debt, and credit information so that they can issue a Pre-Qualification Letter that is required from most sellers today.
